Pen Dinas rises on the southern edge of Aberystwyth above the Ystwyth and Rheidol valleys. The hill is the site of an extensive Iron Age hillfort, with earthworks that speak to the area's long history before the medieval town grew beside the sea.
The summit is also known for the tall Wellington Monument, built in the 1850s and visible across town. Paths from Trefechan and Penparcau lead to rewarding views over the harbour, Cardigan Bay, Tanybwlch beach, and the inland valleys.
