Aberystwyth's Royal Pier opened in 1865 and was the first pleasure pier in Wales. Designed by noted pier engineer Eugenius Birch, it once stretched far out into Cardigan Bay before storms, fires, and rebuilding left the shorter landmark seen today.
The pier remains part of the town's seaside identity, connecting Victorian resort history with modern entertainment on the promenade. Its landward pavilion and seafront position make it an easy landmark for exploring Pier Street, North Beach, and the town centre.
