Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland, became one of Aberystwyth’s twin towns in 2016. The friendship has grown especially through the Celtic Challenge and other sporting links, with recent visits and youth-focused exchanges helping strengthen ties across the Irish Sea. Arklow has a strong maritime heritage, including boat building, lifeboat and fishing traditions.
