Most of the things you interact with everyday are managed by Ceredigion County Council: https://www.ceredigion.gov.uk/
These include education, social care, highways, waste and planning. Consequently the council is the biggest employer in the county along with the NHS.
The majority of the council’s budget comes from the Welsh Government, with a smaller proportion raised locally via council tax.
The 38 county councillors in Ceredigion are elected every five years. They are paid the equivalent of a part-time job and help to represent residents and set policy directions within the available budget.
There are also a set of hard working corporate directors, lead officers and civil servants delivering your services.
Responsibilities: County Councils manage regional services such as education, social services, local public transportation, museums and the arts, planning, wellbeing and waste management.
